I've not only read the text, I've studied each photo. the two std quarter horses they gave me to ride had a lot of work to do carrying me and the cameras plus a bit of proper work we left the cabin at 6 in the morning and got back at about four in the afternoon - at the end of the day the rest of the horses were cream crackered - … :)Thank you for sharing the info, I love horses and was very nice to read your post, Araucania, ChileThank you for visiting Sweethearts of the West!

GAH! Just as in the modern world, folks used different horse breeds for different purposes—and a broader spectrum of horse breeds and purposes existed than most people realize. I'm not good about knowing a thing about horses, but this would be a handy reference. Age/Color/Breed/Sex: 1996 Sorrel AQHA Gelding Pedigree: Bob Acre Doc x Dox Olena Baby Fun Fact: Fat Boy was shown in NCHA cutting horse events and accumulated lifetime earnings of $17,241.00.

Wonderful post. Horse, mule, movie stars and stunt men making a movie at Lake Los Angeles in this photo. In the mid-1900s, horses such as Driftwood, Bert, Hollywood Gold, Grey Badger III, Sugar Bars, King, Poco Bueno and Leo added another layer to the foundation of the breed.

Although small in stature, Fat Boy is a great ride and provides our students the unique ability to ride a cow bred and ranch broke horse. "As long as you can get on a horse, you can ride," he said. Therefore, Doc Holliday most likely had many horses at different times in his life. Definitely bookmarked.This is a great post, Kathleen. Horses were considered disposable in those days.
