Various controls such as Upper Back Force, Lower Back Firmness, and adjustable armrests allow motion in four different directions, thus you can adjust your position any way you like.In my opinion, the Series 1 is just a knocked down version of the Leap. It has almost all of the same adjustability but I do feel that the Leap is a pretty significant upgrade. Steelcase requires that the Leap is returned in the original packaging and in new condition. The third recline spot is free form with a small pushback force, and the last one doesn’t have any lock.

It's a little disappointing that there's no adjustable lumbar support standard, but the back rest felt fine for the time I was testing the chairs.Has anyone had experience with both the Steelcase Leap V2 and the Gesture? They are very durable chairs. Having said that, all three are fantastic designs, and you’ll find a lot to like here.

The Gesture doesn't have any sort of manual adjustability in the base model, but you can upgrade for the manual lumbar adjustment (no tension control). I found a Steelcase Gesture (this was leather vs the fabric Leaps I've tried) the other day working around at work and decided to sit in it.

If you have a tight budget and looking for a good ergonomic chair then the V2 is a good choice. It could just be because it was new and not broken in yet, but I can't say for sure. Some even pricier chairs I tested, like the Steelcase Leap and the Herman Miller Aeron, were much more complicated, and much less comfortable.

I also like how it has the adjustable lumbar support location and tension. With an Aeron, I literally can’t find settings that work. I'm in the market for a home office chair and was considering the Series 1 because it's at the top of my limit. Last one I've been really considering is a Haworth Very (at least I think that's what it is given the angled top). The Leap surpassed the Gesture in Lumbar support in my opinion. Both the versions have been made by prioritizing requirements of specific group of users. It hasn't gotten less supportive over time, it was just never amazing to begin with.
