The handle is shipped in two pieces, one snaps into the other. The Libman pads were more expensive too. Hope this helps. What should I use if I want to mix my "own solution"? There is a fill line for the water and then a fill line for the soap. Also, make sure that the dispenser is locked into place properly or it won't draw the liquid out when you squeeze the trigger.
