At the onset, Leadford is a very self-centered man who expects everything to be handed to him with little effort on his part and constantly grumbling about that not happening. Once in a while you read a book that you look back and reflect, thinking, “well, that was a pile of rubbish”, this, was such a book. One of the best written stories I have read.
