Reading age. Have to be honest - only picked this up as it is one of this years CBCA shortlist titles (cover did not inspire me) - but am so glad I did. Unlike other stories that deal with similar issues, "Because of You" is not a dark read, it is in fact an illuminating story, with a light touch that leaves the reader feeling positive and enlightened. Two very different girls with two very different stories who are just trying to find a place to belong. This is one of those books where you find yourself holding your breath without even realising you're doing it and just getting so behind these characters because you are so invested in their lives.
